Evanston police say a maintenance man at Beth Emet synagogue discovered Wednesday morning that someone had thrown a rock through a purple stained-glass window on the Ridge Avenue side of the building.

Police Commander Tom Guenther says the medium-size rock was found on the floor about 20 feet from the window inside the building.

Guenther says at this point they have no indication of a motive for the vandalism and are treating the incident as a property crime.
