Evanston Police Chief Frank Kaminski, who was one of six finalists earlier this year for the job of police chief in Rockford, lost out in the competition when that town’s police commission selected David Purdy, a former deputy chief in Kalamazoo, Mich., for the job.

But several weeks after the selection, Rockford officials still haven’t completed a background investigation of Purdy and the Rockford Register Star reports that his performance reviews in Kalamazoo were less than stellar.
