Ten Evanston non-profit organizations received grants Tuesday totaling $17,400 from the Rotary Club of Evanston Lighthouse at its regular weekly breakfast meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Funds were raised by members primarily through the yearend holiday sale of plants, citrus, hams, and nuts, as well as member donations and other club fundraising efforts.
In addition to these grants, whose recipients were chosen by the club’s Community Service Committee, additional funds are dispensed by the club’s International Service Committee for projects abroad, often in cooperation with one or more other clubs in the 32,000-club Rotary worldwide network.
Tuesday’s grantees included the Childcare Network of Evanston, Connections for the Homeless, Curt’s Café, Dental Access Days, Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association (ESSCA), Hillside Pantry, Interfaith Action of Evanston, Justin Wynn Fund, Services for Adults Staying in their Homes (SASI), and Youth Organizations Umbrella (YOU).
