Santa arrives in Evanston for the holiday tree lighting ceremony Saturday evening in Fountain Square.

Mayor Steve Hagerty will be there too to help light the live tree planted at the south end of the Fountain Square plaza.

The Evanston Children’s Choir will perform at 5 p.m. with the tree lighting itself at 5:30 p.m.

Following the tree lighting, visitors will be able to head across the street to Pete Miller’s to meet Santa and warm up with hot chocolate.

There’ll also be a live ice sculpture demonstration from 6 to 7 p.m. at Fountain Square where hot chocolate and coffee will be provided by Colectivo Coffee.

Earlier in the afternoon there’ll be a chance to have your kids’ picture taken with Santa at Industrious Office, 909 Davis St.
