Foundation 65, the education foundation that supports Evanston/Skokie School District 65, has hired Yolanda Knight as its first executive director.

Knight will begin full time on Sept. 2 and work with the foundation board and community partners to develop programming initiatives, build the foundation’s capacity and increase fundraising.

Most recently, Knight served as an education program officer for the Lloyd A. Fry Foundation and. A native of Chicago’s Austin neighborhood, Knight is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the UIC College of Education. She began her professional career as a teacher.

The hiring of a full-time executive director is part of a growth trend for Foundation 65.

The Foundation received over $200,000 in grants earlier this year from Northwestern University, the Lewis-Sebring Family Foundation and the Cless Family Foundation to fund significant organizational development initiatives.
