School notes: Half day on Nov. 4

Evanston/Skokie School District 65 students will have a half-day off on Wednesday, Nov. 4, to provide time for teacher training programs.

Magnet school students will be dismissed at 11 a.m., middle school students at 11:30 a.m., elementary and Park School students at 12:05 p.m.


Evanston/Skokie School District 65 students will have a half-day off on Wednesday, Nov. 4, to provide time for teacher training programs.

Magnet school students will be dismissed at 11 a.m., middle school students at 11:30 a.m., elementary and Park School students at 12:05 p.m.

With prior arrangements, students who are enrolled in the District 65 before and after care, are eligible for after-school care on school improvement days.

Also on Nov. 4, the Magnet School Planning Committee will meet at 6 p.m. at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Avenue, in the Jordan Teacher Center.

The committee was formed to address a strategic plan goal to discuss and make written recommendations for the future purpose and instructional focus for each of the district’s magnet schools. For more information call 847 859-8032. Observers are welcome.

Walker Elementary School
On Thursday, Oct. 29, Walker School will hold its annual Walkerthon event, where students take pledges and walk laps during gym class to support health and wellness and raises funds for programs and activities at the School.

Oakton Elementary School
On Friday, Oct. 30, the African-Centered Curriculum Program will have a student career day.

Participating students will use this day to come dressed in costumes to demonstrate their future career interests.

Chute Middle School
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Chute hosts its monthly PTA meeting in the school library.

The November PTA meeting will feature a presentation from the School Improvement Team (SIT) and will also include the Principal’s Report and updates from various PTA committees.

This is one of several opportunities parents will have during the year to hear about what the SIT committee is working on as well as to ask questions, provide feedback and make suggestions. For more information, call the school at 847 859-8600

Haven Middle School
On Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. the Haven School PTSA meets. Faculty, staff, and families of the school are invited to participate. For more information, call 847-859-8200.
