Lincolnwood School fifth graders will host their counterparts from from Willard School Friday in a kickball game fundraiser to aid a former Lincolnwood student battling cancer.
The match, from 4 to 7 p.m., will assist 11-year-old Michael Narvaez, who’s suffering from Ewings sarcoma, a form of cancer found in the bone and soft tissue.
The schools have raised over $6,000 so far for the event and raffle prizes have expanded to include: an iPad2, iPod Touch, autographed Bears football, tour of WGN studios and meet and greet with Tom Skilling, life-sized teddy bears, two sets of Cubs tickets, with more items coming in each day.
Most of Lincolnwood and Willard’s 5th grade classes are actively participating in selling raffle tickets and helping run Friday’s benefit.
Willie the Wildcat and Northwestern athletes are scheduled to cheer the kids on in the game.
After that, the school will present the Narvaez family with funds raised to date.
Music is being provided for all the kids to dance to and local vendors have donated food to provide dinner and dessert. Finally, the raffle winners will be drawn at 6 p.m.
A bank account has been set up to assist the family. The “Michael Narvaez Foundation” account is at Chase Bank at 1603 Orrington Ave. in Evanston.
