Evanston School District 65 administrators have scheduled two community discussion sessions this month to address concerns about incidents in which students have directed racially offensive comments toward other students.
Incidents last fall at Lincolnwood, Dewey and Orrington elementary schools led officials to invite “students, families, residents and community leaders to come together to discuss solutions and opportunities” with a goal of becoming an anti-racist community.
The first session will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St.
The second session will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Beth Emet Synagogue, 1224 Dempster St.
Childcare and Spanish interpretation will be provided.
