Evanston police have arrested a second man in connection with a shooting last September in the 800 block of Case Street.

23-year-old Aaron Jerome Terrell of 2028 Emerson St. is being held on $1 million bond, facing attempted murder and aggravated battery charges.

Commander Tom Guenther says the arrest followed numerous interviews by Evanston police detectives. He says the suspect ultimately provided a statement to police which led to charges against him being approved by the state’s attorney’s office.

Charges were filed last month against another man, Troy Randle, 18, of 2216 Thome in Chicago, in connection with the shooting.

The victim, Seneca Nelson, 27, of the 4900 block of Hull Terrace in Skokie, was shot in the head and chest about 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 18. The shooting occured in an alley just east of Ridge Avenue and north of the Skokie Swift tracks.

Police say that because of the extent of his injuries, it was months before police were able to interview Nelson.
