Evanston health officials reported nine new COVID-19 cases today, down from 17 yesterday. The city’s COVID death toll remained unchanged at 110.

Statewide there were 2,598 new cases today, compared to 2,838 yesterday, for a new total of 1,158,431.

The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that a record 95,375 people were vaccinated yesterday, compared to 69,029 the day before.

A total of 1,644,483 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 69% of the total 2,385,625 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 2.94% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.

Illinois reported 32 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 105 yesterday, for a new total of 19,873.

The state reported 103,009 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 96,525 yesterday.

The IDPH reported tests of 3,902 Evanston residents today, compared to 547 yesterday. That appears to be a one-day testing record for the city. The IDPH found seven positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 0.2%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,874 cases. The city’s case count is 3,739.

Chicago reported 535 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 240,025 and 11 more deaths for a total of 4,768.

Suburban Cook County reported 457 new cases today for a total of 224,548 and three more deaths for a total of 4,346.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a woman in her 50s, two women and three men in their 60s, two men in their 70s, two women and two men in their 80s, one woman in her 90s and one man over 100 years old.

As of last night, 1,915 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 437 patients were in the ICU and 211 of those were on ventilators.
