Evanston police say the man shot to death early Thursday morning near the CTA Red Line station on Howard Street was a 20-year-old resident of Glenview.

Brian Carrion, police say, lived in the 10200 block of Dearlove Road. He was found lying on the ground near the station in the 300 block of Howard Street about 1:16 a.m.

Chicago Fire Department paramedics tried to revive him, but he was already deceased.

A second victim, a 21-year-old Evanston resident, was treated and released at St. Francis Hospital for a graze wound to the head.

Carrion had been arrested by Evanston police on May 9, 2019, at 415 Howard St., just a block away from where he died, and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Cmdr. Ryan Glew says detectives from Evanston and the NORTAF major crimes task force are investigating the shooting, but no suspects are in custody at this time.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Evanston Police Detective Bureau at 847-866-5040 or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637) and then start your message with EPDTIP.
