Evanston police say they’re awaiting autopsy results expected later this afternoon as they continue their investigation into the shooting death of two brothers at their downtown Evanston tobacco shop.

The bodies of the brothers, Azim Hakeem, 38, and Mobeen Hakeem, 34,were found in the basement of the Evanston Pipe & Tobacco shop at 923 Davis St. Tuesday evening by officers asked by a relative to check the property after the men failed to respond to phone calls.

Cmdr. Jay Parrott this morning said the autopsy results may — or may not — help police resolve the case.

He declined to comment on whether weapons had been found at the scene or other aspects of the investigation.

But he said Wednesday that no evidence had been found so far to indicate that the store had been robbed.
