The driver for Evanston’s Best Taxi Service who was shot in the head early Sunday morning has died.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office says 50-year-old Leodis Blackburn, of 5930 W. Iowa St. in Chicago, was pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital.

Evanston police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the shooting, which occurred in the 500 block of Elmwood Avenue.

Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther says police are seeking the public’s assistance in the homicide investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the detective bureau at 847-866-5040. Guenther says all information provided will remain confidential.
