Evanston police are investigating an incident in which two cars were struck by gunfire near the intersection of Simpson Street and Darrow Avenue about 1:50 this afternoon.

Although police so far haven’t been able to locate anyone who saw the shots being fired, witnesses told officers they saw at least two people running from the scene, Police stopped a number of suspects for questionning, but ultimately released them.

The vehicles that now have bullet holes are a 2010 Ford van and a 2003 Jaguar.
