Gunshots were reported to Evanston police at Custer Avenue and Oakton Street, just west of the South Boulevard stop on the Chicago Transit Authority’s Purple Line.

The report came in at 11:14 p.m. yesterday, and Evanston police immediately launched an investigation.

But after a thorough check of the area, the police said they found nothing. The incident was the sole entry on the day’s daily crime bulletin.
