For the sixth time in the last two weeks, Evanston police have received gunshot reports on Darrow Avenue, including four in the 1800 block of that street. The other two were in the 2000 block on May 30 and the 1200 block on May 28. These among stories in today’s crime bulletin from the Evanston department.
SHOTS HEARD
1800 Darrow
Gunshots were reported in the 1800 block of Darrow Avenue at 11:46 p.m. yesterday. Previous reports on that block were noted on May 28, June 3, and June 7. Similar reports were received in the 1200 block of Darrow on May 28 and on the 2000 block on May 30. In each case, police checked the area and found nothing.
BURGLARY
1100 Monroe
Clothes were taken from an unlocked 2006 Toyota in the 1100 block of Monroe Street between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
600 Michigan
A bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 600 block of Michigan Avenue between May 26 and 5 p.m. Tuesday.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
2200 Foster
Someone scratched the hood of a 2019 Nissan in the 2200 block of Foster Street around 5:30 p.m. yesterday.
1900 Sherman
Dents and scratches were found on a 1999 Honda in a parking lot in the 1900 block of Sherman Avenue at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS
900 Foster
Benjamin Stephens, 68, of 6118 S. Wood St., Chicago, was arrested at the Foster Street Chicago Transit Authority terminal at 2:43 a.m. Tuesday and charged with criminal trespass. He is due in court on July 26 at 9 a.m.
GRAFFITI
1200 Dempster
Graffiti was found on the street in the 1200 block of Dempster Street at 4:15 p.m. yesterday.
ROBBERY
800 Dodge
A cell phone was ripped from a victim’s hands in the 800 block of Dodge Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. yesterday.
THEFT
1100 Fowler
A trash can was stolen from the alley in the 1100 block of Fowler Avenue between June 3 and 4:38 p.m. Saturday.
600 Chicago
Alcoholic products were taken from the Walgreens Pharmacy in the 600 block of Chicago Avenue at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday and again at 9:15 p.m. yesterday.
400 Grove
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2009 Honda while parked in the 400 block of Grove Street at about 9:49 a.m. Wednesday.
400 Davis
A package delivered to a residence in the 400 block of Davis Street was taken around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
1700 Ridge
A secured bicycle was stolen from the 1700 block of Ridge Avenue between 2:45 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. Wednesday.
TRAFFIC
Dodge at Lake
Christopher A. Jones, 35, of 8733 Saint Louis Ave., Skokie, was arrested at Dodge Avenue and Lake Street at 3 a.m. Monday and charged with driving under the influence. He is due in court on July 19 at 9 a.m.
1224 Dempster
Humberto Munoz, 60, of 618 Callan Ave., was arrested at 1224 Dempster St. at 4:34 p.m. yesterday and charged with driving under the influence.
Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute an assumption of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Court in Skokie.
