Residents of the Sienna condominium complex may be allowed to return to their homes this weekend, once repairs are completed following the collapse May 11 of part of a parking garage on the site.
Evanston Community Development Director Jim Wolinski said Wednesday that workers still have to reconstruct a walkway destroyed in the collapse that is the second means of egress for the 55 condo units.
In addition fire alarm and sprinkler systems still need to be reconnected at the site at 1218 Oak Ave.
Mr. Wolinski said he hopes that final inspection of the repair work can be completed on Friday.
The cause of the collapse is still under investigation.
