truck-sink-hole

Remember the truck that fell into the sink hole on Dobson Street in Evanston back on April 18? Well repairing the street is going to take a couple more days yet.

City officials say the 700 block of Dobson from Custer to Elmwood Avenues will be closed to traffic until about 1 p.m. Wednesday while a contractor completes repairs to the pavement.

The sewer collapse that swallowed the truck’s rear wheels now has been fixed, but the pavement repair needs the additional time.

City officials say the damaged area is too large to just cover over with steel plates.
