Evanston health officials reported six new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 2,905 new cases.

The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 4.4%, and the seven-day average is 4.0%.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 66,256 tests today, down from Friday’s 71,599.

The IDPH reported tests of 394 Evanston residents today, compared to 688 Friday. It found seven positive cases here for a positive rate today of 1.8%, compared to the seven-day average of 1.7%. A week ago, the seven-day rate for Evanston was 1.0%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,198 cases.

By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,201 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.

The latest seven-day average positive rate for some other communities:

  • Chicago 3.7%.
  • Suburban Cook County 4.7%
  • Skokie 2.8%
  • Wilmette 2.5%

Chicago reported 575 new cases today for a total of 84,085. Its coronavirus death toll increased by three today to 2,990.

Suburban Cook County reported 552 more cases today for a total of 69,429 and six more death for a total of 2,308.

Those who died in Cook County today ranged from a woman and two men in their 40s to a woman and a man in their 90s.

The state now has 316,423 COVID-19 cases, and it reported 30 more deaths today for a total of 8,975.

As of last night, 1,807 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 406 patients were in the ICU and 166 of those were on ventilators.
