Illinois set a new one-day record for COVID-19 tests today with results returned for 51,612 tests.

With 1,832 new cases, the statewide positive rate for the day was 3.6%, compared to the seven-day average of 4.4%

Evanston’s case count rose to 957 today, up by six from Wednesday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged at 71.

Chicago reported 358 new cases today for a total of 67,468 and one additional death for a total of 2,837.

Suburban Cook County had 387 new cases for a total of 51,289 and three additional deaths for a total of 2,151.

Statewide the case count increased reached 213,721 and the death toll grew by 27 to 7,833.

The state reported test results for 307 Evanston residents today and found four new cases for a positive rate of 1.3%
