The number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Evanston declined for a second straight day today, with six new cases reported for a total of 228. Statewide 1,197 new cases were reported, bring the state’s total case count to 30,357.

At his news conference this afternoon Gov. J.B. Pritzker said the smaller number of new cases statewide may have — at least in part — been the result of one of the major private testing labs not reporting any test results today.

Chicago reported 526 new cases today for a total of 12,533.

No new COVID-19 deaths were reported today in Evanston and only one additional death in Chicago, but the statewide death toll rose by 33 to a total of 1,292.
