Evanston health officials reported six new COVID-19 cases today, down from 15 yesterday. The city’s COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged for a 10th day at 110.
Statewide there were 1,922 new cases today, compared to 2,219 yesterday, for a new total of 1,172,824.
The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 77,813 people were vaccinated yesterday, compared to 83,673 the day before. The seven-day average decreased to 59,190.
A total of 2,138,518 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 79% of the total 2,702,175 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 4.25% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.
Illinois reported 42 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 63 yesterday, for a new total of 20,234.
The state reported 73,212 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 85,963 yesterday.
The IDPH reported tests of 549 Evanston residents today, compared to 403 yesterday. The IDPH found 12 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 1.8%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,973 cases. The city’s case count is 3,828.
Chicago reported 333 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 242,114 and three more deaths for a total of 4,822.
Suburban Cook County reported 356 new cases today for a total of 227,265 and seven more deaths for a total of 4,423.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a man in his 40s, a woman and a man in their 50s, two men in their 60s, a woman and two men in their 70s, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 90s.
As of last night, 1,551 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 351 patients were in the ICU and 171 of those were on ventilators.
