Evanston health officials reported six new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 3,059 new cases.
The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 4.2%, and the seven-day average is 3.7%.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 72,491 tests today, up from Wednesday’s 58,820.
The IDPH reported tests of 761 Evanston residents today, compared to 304 Wednesday. It found six positive cases here for a positive rate today of 0.8%, compared to the seven-day average of 1.5%. A week ago, the seven-day rate for Evanston was 1.2%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,186 cases.
By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,190 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.
The latest seven-day average positive rate for some other communities:
- Chicago 3.4%.
- Suburban Cook County 3.0%
- Skokie 2.7%
- Wilmette 1.9%
Chicago reported 513 new cases today for a total of 83,070. Its coronavirus death toll remained unchanged at 2,983.
Suburban Cook County reported 557 more cases today for a total of 68,400 and six more death for a total of 2,296.
Those who died in Cook County today ranged from a man in his 50s to three women in their 80s.
The state now has 310,700 COVID-19 cases, and it reported 32 more deaths today for a total of 8,910.
As of last night, 1,755 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 392 patients were in the ICU and 163 of those were on ventilators.
