Evanston health officials reported six new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 2,442 new cases.
The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 3.4%, the same as the seven-day average rate.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 71,634 tests today, down slightly from Friday’s 72,691.
The IDPH reported tests of 661 Evanston residents today, up from 628 Friday. It found five positive cases here for a positive rate today of 0.8% compared to a seven-day average rate for the city of 1.0%. The seven-day rate here is down from 1.5% a week ago.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,149 cases.
By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,163 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.
Chicago reported 451 new cases today for a total of 81,463. Its coronavirus death toll increased by four to 2,968.
Suburban Cook County reported 473 more cases today for a total of 66,378 and two more deaths for a total of 2,277.
Those who died in Cook County today ranged in age from a man in his 40s to a man in his 90s.
The state now has 300,088 COVID-19 cases, and it reported 31 more deaths today for a total of 8,774.
As of last night, 1,535 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 361 patients were in the ICU and 140 of those were on ventilators.
