The Evanston Community Foundation’s Leadership Evanston program next month will offer Snapshot Evanston, a one-day orientation to the city.

Snapshot Evanston provides an opportunity for local residents and Evanston-based workers to gain insight into the Evanston community, its assets and issues.

The day begins with a look back at Evanston’s history with a bus tour of the city’s diverse neighborhoods, highlighting major trends of yesterday and today.

In addition, panels of community leaders share their expertise and knowledge about Evanston. Presenters include city government officials, school district representatives and economic development experts.

By the end of the day, participants have a better picture of how Evanston works and its strengths and challenges as it moves into the future.

The session will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Parasol Room of the Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.  The program cost is $75 per person or $125 for two, and includes coffee and bagels beginning at 8:00 a.m. and lunch.  Online registration is now open at

Kathy Rocklin, a past president of the Woman’s Club of Evanston who attended last year’s program, called it “a wonderful experience. It was the perfect mix of history, current Evanston events and plans for the city’s future. It is for newcomers and long-time residents alike!”
