The ETHS boys basketball game has been postponed, and a candidate forum tonight has been cancelled because of this afternoon's snowfall.
As of 4 p.m. Evanston city officials say 2-point-1 inches of snow had fallen at the municipal service center.
Streets and Sanitation Superintendent James Maiworm says snow routes have been plowed curb to curb where possible and are wet and slushy. Residential streets are snow covered to slushy with extra crews currently working to open up side streets by rush hour.
The heaviest snow has passed on through to the north and lighter snow rates can be expected for the remainder of the night. Overnight temperatures will be around 32 to 34 degrees so a high degree of melting is expected
Given the good conditions of the snow routes and warm temperatures overnight, no parking restrictions are expected at this time, Maiworm says.
Although more snow is expected tomorrow, much lighter accumulations are expected and daytime temperatures should be around 36 to 38 degrees.
The basketball game at Loyola will be played Wednesday night at 6 p.m. instead.
Y.O.U., which planned the candidate forum is asking people to attend other candidate events instead.
