‘Snow emergency’ parking rules today

The City of Evanston has declared a snow emergency between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 8.

That mean parking is not allowed on the even-numbered sides of side streets that normally permit parking on both sides of the street. Vehicles today must be parked on the odd number side of the street.

Main streets, or snow routes, were cleared overnight and the emergency parking rules do not apply to those roads during the day totay.

Cars parked illegally during snow emergencies are subject to a $35 ticket and a towing fine of $100.

Most streets with parking on one side only now have permanent “ODD date” or “EVEN date” signs that allow them to be plowed during snow emergencies.
