The National Weather Service says Evanston is likely to get 3 to 5 inches of snow by Sunday morning.

Edgar Cano of the city’s public works agency says the city’s forecasters are expecting not quite that much — a total of 1.6 to 2.8 inches from the storm.

Snow is expected to start around 10 p.m. Saturday and continue through 6 a.m. Sunday.

Snowfall totals expected by the National Weather Service have increased a bit since this graphic was issued Saturday morning.

The weather service says drivers can expect slippery road conditions and sharply reduced visibility with the storm’s heaviest snow.

Cano says city crews have spread salt brine on streets in anticipation of the storm and will respond as needed during the event.
