And you thought highs near 40 Tuesday would bring a break in Evanston’s nasty weather! But no. We’re gonna get some snow, some freezing rain and some plain old rain as the day progresses.
Assistant Public Works Director James Maiworm says snow is expected to start falling around 3 a.m. Tuesday, dropping around a half inch on us before it changes to freezing rain about 8 a.m., followed by just light rain after noon
Maiworm says a light glaze of ice is possible on the roads before the pavement temperatures warm.
The precipitation is expected to stop sometime in the afternoon and will be followed by very cold temperatures Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Public Works has anti-iced all main and secondary streets, Maiworm says, and overnight crews are on standby and will begin treating the roads as soon as conditions require in anticipation of the morning commute.
