The National Weather Service says Evanston could get an inch or more of snow during brief snow showers this morning.

The snow is expected to begin between 8:30 and 10 a.m. and cause a sharp reduction in visibility. Because road temperatures have cooled considerably over the past week, the snow is expected to accumulate, at least on untreated road surfaces.

The snow is expected to diminish to flurries by noontime — but the start of the storm could slow traffic during the tail end of the morning rush hour.

Update 8:20 a.m.: James Maiworm of Evanston’s Public Works Agency says crews anti-iced all main and secondary roads Sunday night and are on standby now to respond as soon as the snow begins to fall.
