Snow showers have just begun in Evanston this afternoon and aren’t expected to amount to much — giving us less than a half inch of snow by the time they stop around 9 p.m. tonight.

James Maiworm of the city’s public works agency says pavement temperatures are currently around 38 degrees with an air temperature of 34. The warm conditions, he says, should inhibit accumulation at the onset but some dusting over of untreated pavement is expected later in the evening.

Public Works crews are currently on standby, Maiworm says, and will begin operations as soon as conditions require.
