The National Weather Service says we can expect wind-driven snow until early Thursday evening.
After a break in the weather Thursday morning, snow started falling in Evanston between 1 and 2 p.m.
Slippery road conditions are expected through the afternoon rush hour with snowfall rates in some areas up to an inch per hour — although the total accumulation in Evanston could be a little as two inches.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 9 p.m.
And the weather service has also issued a lakeshore flooding advisory that will remain in effect until midnight.
Large battering waves of 10 to 14 feet are expected to result in renewed shoreline erosion, lakeshore flooding and dangerous conditions near the lakefront.
