With a couple of inches of snow already on the ground in Evanston, forecasters say we can expect another inch or two to fall before the storm ends by late this afternoon.

Edgar Cano, public services bureau chief for the city’s Public Works Agency, says crews are out plowing and spreading salt as needed this morning.

He says they’re putting a priority on main thoroughfares and clearing residential streets as conditions permit.

Cano says radar shows the storm is breaking up, which could mean it will end sooner than forecast, with somewhat less accumulation.

But crews will face falling temperatures and blowing and drifting snow that will make cleanup efforts more difficult.
