Evanston and Maine West battled until the last second of their game Wednesday.
Maine West surprised Evanston with it’s feisty play and dominated the first half; resulting in a goal.
Evanston regrouped and recharged at half time. Each player on Evanston’s team came out more aggressive, more focused, and driven to win.
With more aggressive play, a lot more fouls were called in the second half.
Maine West was awarded a penalty kick, but Evanston’s goalie, senior Tess Proctor, blocked the shot.
Senior forward, Anna Sippel, made a great hustle play by running through Maine West’s goalie to score Evanston’s first goal of the game.
Sophomore, Olivia Bates, who plays several positions for Evanston, put in the second goal late in the half. Evanston won 2-1.
