Light Opera Works’ production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific” opened Saturday and continues through Aug. 30 at Cahn Auditorium in Evanston.
This production features a 30-piece orchestra and restages the Pulitzer Prize-winning musicalthat focuses on two couples on an island in the Pacific during World War II. “South Pacific” sports classic standards including “Some Enchanted Evening” and “There is Nothing Like a Dame.”

This production of “South Pacific” is directed and choreographed by Light Opera Works artistic director Rudy Hogenmiller. The orchestra is conducted by music director Roger L. Bingaman.
