Illinois health officials reported 2,190 new COVID-19 cases today, the highest daily count since late May. And the state’s positive test rate continued to rise.

The state now has reported a total of 192,698 cases. It reported 18 more deaths today for a total of 7,631.

Evanston reported three new cases today, for a total of 901, after hitting a high of 12 cases yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged at 71 again today.

Chicago reported 453 more cases today for a total of 63,577 and one additional death for a total of 2,808.

Suburban Cook County reported 410 more cases for a total of 47,288 and three more deaths for a total of 2,116.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of tests on 48,016 patients today, the second highest one-day total on record. The positive rate today was 4.6% compared to the seven-day average of 4.2%

The IDPH now reports Evanston has 901 COVID-19 cases up by two in the state’s tally since yesterday. It reported results of 279 COVID-19 tests on Evanston residents today with a positive rate of 0.7%
