State health officials reported five new COVID-19 cases among Evanston residents today. Statewide there were 2,727 new cases.
The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 4.3%, and the seven-day average is 4.2%.
The percentage of Evanston residents who’ve fallen ill with the coronavirus disease remains substantially below the figures for Chicago and the state as a whole.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 64,047 tests today, down from Saturday’s 66,256.
Data on the breakdown of tests conducted by ZIP Code and by county usually provided each day by the IDPH was not available this afternoon this afternoon, making it impossible to calculate updated positive rates by community.
But with the five new cases the IDPH reported in Evanston today the state’s count of total cases in Evanston is 1,203.
The city’s count of COVID cases, which stood at 1,201 Saturday, had not been updated as of 3:30 p.m. today.
Chicago reported 562 new cases today for a total of 84,647. Its coronavirus death toll was unchanged today at 2,990.
Suburban Cook County reported 443 more cases today for a total of 69,872 and two more death for a total of 2,310.
Those who died in Cook County today were a woman and a man who both were in their 90s.
The state now has 319,150 COVID-19 cases, and it reported nine more deaths today for a total of 8,984.
As of last night, 1,776 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 388 patients were in the ICU and 159 of those were on ventilators.
