Several hundred members of the Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Assocition are in Evanston for a three-day conference at the Hilton Orrington that starts today.

The association — for local government officials and the consultants who do work for them — has the motto “making great communities happen.”

There’ll also be a special program track for members of local plan commissions who make recommendations to city councils and village boards about development projects.

Bill Smith is the editor and publisher of Evanston Now.
