The thief who stole a package delivered to an apartment common area in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue was apparently in for a surprise when he discovered all that was inside was cat food. This among stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.


800 Hinman

A package containing cat food was stolen from an apartment common area in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue, where it had been delivered, between 11:40 a.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. Friday.

600 Chicago

Pain relievers were removed from the shelves of the Walgreens Pharmacy in the 600 block of Chicago Avenue  around 7:33 p.m. Saturday.

2500 Green Bay

An iPhone XS was removed from the display at a store in the 2500 block of Green Bay Road around 3:35 p.m. yesterday.

100 Clyde

Stereo equipment was among electronics taken from the office of an apartment in the 100 block of Clyde Avenue around 3:20 p.m. Saturday.

1211 Chicago

Leroy Mickey Grant, 57, of 2413 Central St., was arrested at 1211 Chicago Ave. at 8:45 p.m. Friday and charged with retail theft. He is due in court on Nov. 15 at 9 a.m.


2500 Eastwood

A burglar gained access to an apartment in the 2500 block of Eastwood Avenue via an open window between 8 a.m. and 8:25 p.m. Friday and stole three computers, jewelry, stereo equipment, and credit cards.

Criminal Damage

100 Hinman

Someone ripped a “Black Lives Matter” sign in half in the 100 block of Hinman Avenue between noon on Oct. 20 and noon on Friday.

1500 Chicago

Someone keyed the entire drivers side of a 2018 Jeep in a business parking lot in the 1500 block of Chicago Avenue between 6 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.


3505 Acadia

Andre J. Peart, 25, of 101 Clyde Ave., was arrested at 3505 Acadia St. at 8:17 p.m. yesterday and charged with the manufacture and/or delivery of cannabis.


600 Mulford

Graffiti was discovered on Chicago Transit Authority property in the 600 block of Mulford Street at 10:06 a.m. Friday.

700 Case

Graffiti was discovered on the garage of a home in the 700 block of Case Street at 11:40 a.m. yesterday.

700 Austin

Graffiti was discovered on the sidewalk in the 700 block of Austin Street at 6 p.m. yesterday.


1233 Fowler

Michael L. Johnson, 35, of 1240 Pitner Ave., was arrested at 1233 Fowler Ave. at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday and charged with resisting and/or obstructing a police officer. He is due in court on Nov. 13 at 9 a.m.

Shots Heard

100 Clyde

Gunshots were reported in the 100 block of Clyde Avenue at 6:52 p.m. Friday. Police checked the area but found nothing.


1015 Noyes

Patricia A. O’Neill-Cynkar, 66, of 2211 Sherman Ave., was arrested at 1015 Noyes St. at 12:40 a.m. Saturday and charged with driving under the influence. She is due in court on Dec. 4 at 9 a.m.

1735 Maple

Rosaura M. Webber, 53, of 9109 Lamon Ave., Skokie, was arrested at 1735 Maple Ave. at 3:10 p.m. Thursday and charged with a traffic violation. She is due in court on Dec. 31 at 10:30 a.m.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
