Several hundred ComEd customers in Evanston — mostly in the blocks just north of Howard Street and east of Ridge Avenue — have lost electric power this morning.

The outages — also including scattered ones involving small clusters of customers elsewhere in town — were caused by a thunderstorm that blew though shortly before dawn today.

The utility hasn’t provided estimates yet on when the power is expected to be restored. The storm also caused a substantial number of outages across the rest of the metro area
