This morning’s unseasonably warm, foggy weather is expected to be followed by thunderstorms for Evanston, a few of which could be severe, this afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook statement that suggests northeast Illinois could get thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts of over 60 miles per hour and the risk of isolated tornadoes.

The storms are expected to develop after 2 p.m. and continue through early this evening.

After the thunderstorms pass through we are expected to have have continued high winds, with gusts between 45 and 50 miles per hour late this evening and overnight.
