Leaders of Curt’s Café, a program that offers jobs training for at-risk youth, announced Monday night that they will close their cafe on Dempster Street in Evanston and consolidate operations at the cafe on Central Street.

Board President Rick Marsh and Executive Director Susan Trieschmann said in a post on Facebook that the move will permit an expansion of student programming.

"At the Central Street location, we will be operating longer hours and serving both young men and young women in the same space," they said. "The new arrangement will allow for more hours of learning and in turn create an increase in positive outcomes for our students."

"We graciously thank the community who supported the Café on Dempster Street for four years and look forward to making you feel as welcomed and appreciated at our Central Street location," the announcement added.

The cafe at 1813 Dempster St. will close at the end of this month. The Curt's Cafe organization took over the former Perla Cafe space in the building in 2014.
