Mmm, yummy! Kilwins open house Sunday

Paid Post: From the moment you walk into Kilwins, your senses will be enticed with the warm, sweet aroma of chocolate, fudge, caramel, caramel apples, and other fresh, made-in-store confections.

The shop also carries thirty-two original recipe flavors of ice cream.

Jeff and Dawn Schneider opened Kilwins Chocolates, Fudge and Ice Cream at 1724 Sherman Ave. in downtown Evanston at the end of last year.

After many years as Kilwins customers, it seemed a natural fit for them to open their own store.

“Our whole family loves both the sweets and overall feeling we get walking into a Kilwins,” Jeff said. “We wanted to bring that same type of experience to Evanston.”

Since the Downtown Evanston location opened, employees have been perfecting the art of making sweet confections, scooping a perfect bowl of ice cream, and delivering the highest degree of customer service. Now the store is prepared for its official welcome to the community.

To celebrate, Kilwins Evanston cordially invites the public to its Open House this Sunday, May 19.

The family-friendly event will kick off at noon with a balloon twister and a face painter at 12:30 p.m.

Live kids pop music will follow at 2 p.m.

Kids and adults alike can get temporary tattoos (including glitter options!) from 3 to 5 p.m.

Guests will also be greeted with complimentary samples and treats, product giveaways and raffles.

The event concludes at 5 p.m. with the drawing for the Grand Prize – free ice cream for a year!

To celebrate the local community, Jeff and Dawn will donate a portion of proceeds from the Open House to the Evanston Public Library.
