Northwestern University Provost Jonathan Holloway is expected to be named the first black president of Rutgers University this week.
The reports say Halloway will be named president on Tuesday, subject to formal approval by the school's Board of Governors and Board of Trustees.
Holloway, 52, is a historian specializing in African American studies. He joined Northwestern as provost in August 2017.
He received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University, where he played football, and his PhD from Yale University.
Before coming to Northwestern he was the dean of Yale College.
