Maricar Ramos new Cradle to Career director

Maricar Ramos will join Evanston Cradle to Career as its new executive director on May 11, succeeding the retiring Sheila Merry. 

Ramos has worked for more than five years as a senior manager for workforce and partnership development at the Chicago Public Schools.

She has served on the board of the YWCA Evanston/North Shore, on the development committee of the McGaw YMCA and as a funder and mentor for the Youth Job Center’s WILL Program. 

At CPS she focused on opportunity youth managing a team that facilitated summer internships for 1,500 high school students each year, and served on the CPS Race & Equity Steering Committee.

She previously served as a grant manager for the YMCA of the USA,a program officer for The Eleanor Foundation, a program consultant for the Chicago Foundation for Women and a program officer for the Mayer & Morris Kaplan Family Foundation. 

Ramos received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Chicago and is a Ph.D. candidate in developmental psychology at Loyola University.
