The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Gov. J.B. Pritzker will order Illinois schools to remain closed for the rest of this academic year to try to restrict the spread of the COVID-19 virus..
The paper says the governor is expected to announced the decision either later today or Saturday.
Pritzker has already extended a school closure order that initially was scheduled to expire Apirl 7 through the end of this month and has hinted for days about another possible extension.
Education Week reports that 27 states and three U.S. territories have already either ordered or recommended that school buildings remain closed for the rest of school year.
