Northwestern cautiously moves toward fall reopening

Deering Library on the Northwestern campus

Northwestern University officials today unveiled a six phase plan that -- if all goes well -- could lead to reopening the campus for regular classes this fall.

The plan, outlined on the school's website, emphasizes mitigating the risk of spread of COVID-19 as staff, faculty and some students begin to return to work on campus.

The plan requires all persons returning to the campus to complete mandatory COVID-19 online training and envisions the possibility that staff and faculty who return to campus may have to go back to working remotely at any time.

It also requires the employees to refrain from visitng campus if they are sick or have symptoms of respiratory illness and wear a face mask or face covering opn campus if social distancing can't be maintained.
