Jazz offerings this week include Mad Skillet at SPACE, Boz Scaggs at North Shore, and a jazzy rendering of the songs from Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood at Studio5. These are among the musical offerings this week in and around Evanston.

Boz Scaggs

Keri Johnsrud – The Music of Fred Rogers
Charming vocalist with jazz arrangements celebrating the music of Fred Rogers (aka Mr. Rogers) Chicago-­based vocalist Keri Johnsrud and GRAMMY nominated pianist Kevin Bales have come together again for their latest release of “Beyond the Neighborhood: The Music of Fred Rogers.” Will be recorded for Chicago Jazz Live on WDCB.

Paula Cole
Cole started as a jazz singer and now returns, at nearly 50 years of age, to pay homage to her first love of jazz and folk.

John Medeski’s Mad Skillet
Mad Skillet was born of a late night show in New Orleans during Jazz Fest 2015. It came out kicking and screaming, laughing and wailing, laying down a deep New Orleans groove steeped in jazz, blues, psychedelic rock, and R&B.

Salieri, Mozart and Beethoven: The Bermuda Triangle of Music
Performers: Rick Ferguson and members of the Musical Offering Continuum Players
Program: Salieri Concertina in G-Allegro spirituoso; Mozart Six Piano Variations on a theme of Salieri; Beethoven Ten Variations on a theme of Salieri
Rick Ferguson will be joined by members of the MO Continuum student ensemble in this lecture-recital exploration of the many-layered relationships involving these three mainstays of late 18th-Century Viennese musical life.

Music of the Baroque: The Four Seasons
The natural world springs to life in a beautifully evocative Baroque orchestral program. Nicholas Kraemer leads Vivaldi’s iconic Four Seasons with concertmaster Gina DiBello. Telemann pays homage to rivers in the fanciful and humorous Wassermusik, while Rameau’s Suite from Platée tells of a water nymph’s amorous escapades.

Victory

Dustbowl Revival
The Dustbowl Revival is an Americana Soul band with eight full-time members who mash the sounds of New Orleans funk, bluegrass, soul, pre-war blues, and roots music, into a genre-hopping, time-bending dance party that coaxes new fire out of familiar coal.

Ryan Montbleau
Ryan Montbleau has been an acclaimed singer, songwriter, and bandleader for more than a decade, but with his new album “I Was Just Leaving,” the New England-based artist has truly arrived.
