The City of Evanston will host the first of three planned city-wide dialoges on race relations on Aug. 9 at the Civic Center.
Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl says the sessions are part of the city’s ongoing commitment to combatting prejudice and strengthening understanding among all of its residents.
“Evanston continues to be a very diverse community and it is this diversity that helps define us as such a wonderful community in which to live, work and play,” Tisdahl said. “It is my hope that these dialogues will go even further to enhance our community and the understanding of the myriad of unique people who make it whole.”
The facilitated dialogue will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 9, in the Parasol Room on the fourth floor of the Civic Center at 2100 Ridge Ave.
The first dialogue will host multiple discussion groups where residents will have the opportunity to get to know one another, exchange perspectives and share their hopes for Evanston.
