Evanston aldermen tonight are scheduled to get a report from city staff on the efforts to make city data more accessible to the public.
The resolution called for the city manager to publish a report on progress in implementing the portal within a year after adoption of the resolution and then by Jan. 1 each year.
Perhaps ironically, no information has yet been posted on the city website detailing the substance of tonight's planned report.
An example of a report from the data portal.
The data portal contains an array of information on various city programs.
Staff is also scheduled to show how the city's newly formed data governance team is aligning the data produced with the city's goals and how it aligns with the What Works Cities program of Bloomberg Philanthropies.
The aldermen are also scheduled to discuss how to implement two of the city goals they've set for 2019-20. enhancing community development and job creation citywide and ensuring equity in all operations.
